MATH

We will begin Chapter 5 in Math. In this chapter, students will learn to gather data as well as display and analyze data using a variety of charts, tables, and graphs. 

Monday–the chapter was introduced and we talked about important vocabulary.

Tuesday-Wednesday–Complete lesson 5.1 and key vocabulary to set up a survey and collect data.

Thursday–In Lesson 5.2 students will learn to find the “mean” or average of a set of numbers.

Friday–Re-teach or finish up lessons (if needed) and possibly work on Graffiti with handheld computers.

WORD STUDY

Students took notes over 5 new Core Words. They will be doing a Cloze Review on Tuesday, and a Dictation on Wednesday. On Thursday-Friday they will be introduced to  new Latin/Greek roots and several English words from the root “miss-” or “mitt-”

i-TIME

We are reading about and discussing the upcoming election. Students are using “Before Reading” and “During Reading” skills to improve comprehension. We are really enjoying reading from our Scholastic News source.
